In Farlands PC Game, you land on a neglected planet with a beat-up spaceship and a personal droid, and that is basically it. The first order of business is clearing the mess left behind by years of abandonment. You cut weeds, reclaim overgrown fields, and slowly rebuild the farm from the ground up. Crops need planting, tools need upgrading, and your ship still has one more job left in her, exploring other planets in the solar system for rare resources. Each planet in the galaxy has its own rules. Vanadian, the desert world, runs on days so long it stays permanently bright or dark depending on when you show up. Darmstad brings a third mine and a whole oxygen management mechanic on top of everything else. Combat in the mines stays on the lighter side, more pest control than survival horror, but the hostile mobs are real and they get tougher as you go deeper.

Between the farming and the exploring, there is a proper social layer to work through. You build friendships with the handful of people still living out here. Send messages through the in-game mail system, unlock story events as relationships deepen, and eventually, if you play it right, get married. The main story takes you somewhere unexpected too. A whole planet at a bargain price always has a catch.
